What can I do if I received a lien on a property and found out that the land is tied up between his late business partner?

Answered by attorney Daniel A. Edelman
Bankruptcy lawyer at Edelman, Combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLC
You need to consult and attorney, who has to review the facts relating to what the basis for the lien is and what the relationship was between your late husband and his late business partner.

What can I do about my payday loan?

Answered by attorney Daniel A. Edelman
Bankruptcy lawyer at Edelman, Combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLC
Most online payday loan companies are not licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Loans made by unlicensed lenders are not enforceable. I doubt if the people calling you were attorneys. The description of the call has every indication of a scam. Do not pay. Do not provide any information. Report them to the FTC, State Attorney General.

Can I file for bankruptcy if I am disabled and in a lot of debt?

Answered by attorney Deborah A. Stencel (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Law Offices of Deborah A. Stencel
In order to determine if one can file bankruptcy, the attorney needs to look at the clients goals, income, prior bankruptcies, certain actions in the last few years (paying off debts, transfers of properties), and asset values. What you have described in your question indicates you may qualify for some bankruptcy relief but there is more detail needed.
