Can my wages be garnished for things from 8 years ago?

Diane L Drain
Answered by attorney Diane L Drain (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Law Office of D. L. Drain, P.A.
Normally garnishments happen after someone has been sued. The time to deal with this was at that stage. There may be options - depending on the law of the state where you live. You might also talk to a good bankruptcy attorney about other options.

How will my parents bankruptcy affect me?

Answered by attorney Xochitl Anita-Louise Flores (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Law Office of Xochitl A. Quezada
Their bankruptcy will not affect your credit. Your dad will not be able to discharge the student loan. As long as you are current you are fine. I'm sure your dad will not be able to co-sign for another student loan in the future.

Can they take me to jail for a payday loan?

Answered by attorney Daniel A. Edelman
Bankruptcy lawyer at Edelman, Combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLC
No. The call is a scam. If the people could be identified, located and served it would be a good Fair Debt Collection Practices Act case.
