If my wife is on the title of the house and she is filing for bankruptcy by herself would it affect the house?

Charles J Schneider
Answered by attorney Charles J Schneider (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Charles J. Schneider, P.C.
If the house is not listed she would be committing fraud, she may lose her discharge and she may lose the house (and also could go to jail). This does not mean that if she discloses it will be lost. She (and you) may be able to keep it if it can be properly exempted.

Am I responsibie for paying my mother medical bills after she died?

Answered by attorney Daniel A. Edelman
Bankruptcy lawyer at Edelman, Combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLC
No. Unless you signed a writing undertaking to pay for the debt of another, you are not liable. Many creditors and debt collectors attempt to collect debts from relatives. Such activities often violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and other laws.

What can I do about a vehicle repossession after bankruptcy discharge?

Answered by attorney Dorothy G. Bunce (Unclaimed Profile)

When there is a bankruptcy discharge and no reaffirmation, further information about the debt, good, bad or otherwise, should no longer appear on your credit reports. But as we all know, what is not supposed to happen sometimes does happen. To resolve any hiccup that might occur, you would need to submit a written dispute to the credit bureau reporting this information, either through their online site or by mail.
