Does it cost anything to the courts to request from the trustee to sell an asset?

Question: Does it cost anything to the courts to request from the trustee to sell an asset? Question Detail: We need to sell an asset to buy another one (trade vehicles) but need permission from the trustee. Our lawyer said it would be $600 to do this. I want to know if that is my lawyer's fee or the courts fee.* - my assumption is that that is the lawyer's fee; that is reasonable given the additional work involved; I'm not aware of any additional court fee other than a motion fee or some other nominal administrative fee*

What do I do if I sold a small business and the purchases is not paying me the money he owes?

Three choices 1. Take your lumps and do nothing 2. Work it out with the buyer 3. Get help. Without the docs it is hard to say if you have a security interest in the personal property. If there is a UCC1 and a financing statement, you do and can recover the property from the new buyer. If not, remember that the school of hard knocks has high tuition. Most problems that lawyers see could have been fixed for $250 if the lawyer is involved prior to the event. After, it can cost thousands. Look on the bright side, you saved $ by not hiring a lawyer in the first place to do it right.

Do I need to file bankruptcy if collectors are calling me and I cannot pay what I owe?

Answered by attorney Austin M Hirschhorn (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Austin Hirschhorn, P.C.
If you can't pay your bills you may need to file bankruptcy. You should consult with a credit counseling service to discuss your situation. They will need information regarding your income and expenses, assets, and liabilities in order to properly advise you as to what you should do. If arrangements can be made to restructure your debt and get it paid without filing for bankruptcy that is a much better choice than a bankruptcy filing which would show up on your credit history and stay there for at least 10 years. Many of the credit counseling services are free or charge only a small amount for a consultation. If they can help you solve your financial problem they will try to set up a payment plan that works with you and your creditors. If they can't help you with a solution to the problem they will probably recommend that you file for bankruptcy relief. You would then have to hire a bankruptcy attorney to represent you.
