I fell while running due to a hidden obstruction left by the removal of a USPS mailbox. The process of trying to find the responsible party was a nightmare. The county denied responsibility and there was no property owner or easement claim to be made. Finally after years of discovery, it was determined the Federal Government was the responsible party and the case would be defended by a US Attorney in Federal Court. Depositions were taken before an attempt at mediation. The government was inflexible with a very small offer and the case was taken to trial. It was a bench trial meaning the judge would be the sole decider of damages and there would be no jury. We waited six weeks for the decision, but the judge found in our favor. High praise.
