Dax Garvin has been a licensed Texas attorney since 2002, the year he first moved to Travis County. Dax focuses on knowing changes to Texas law, but he dedicates himself to understanding each client's personal situation because he acknowledges that it is not only the facts that are important, but the background and circumstances of each case and every person involved that affect the outcome of a client's case. In other words, we all have a story that makes us who we are, and that story impacts our daily lives!
Dax served as a deputy sheriff in central Texas, wearing a uniform, patrolling his district, and enforcing the law for over two and a half years. This helped him understand how many police officers think and why they respond to situations in a certain way. This knowledge and experience set Dax apart from many other lawyers who have never worked in law enforcement.
Dax began his legal career with the Travis County Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted misdemeanor offenses and later was a felony child abuse prosecutor. In those roles, Dax learned to recognize the very essence of a State's case, understanding not only the elements that the State must prove to convict but the other forces that explain why a case is filed, prosecuted, and tried. All of this combines to help Dax know how best to defend clients facing one of the most frightening times in their lives.
During his career, Dax has conducted numerous bench and jury trials and resolved thousands of other cases in ways that best accommodated each client’s personal story and needs. As a gay male, Dax accepts everyone and is unwavering in his support of individual and constitutional rights. He is “Daddy” to his precious daughter, loves corgis, and enjoys traveling.
