Handley lacked integrity, competence and effort in my case. The Attorney Fee Arbitration Committee forced him to reimburse me because of his many errors and inappropriate charges. He had promised to pay me back, but later refused. He has hired a reputation management company to post fake reviews for him online, which is unethical.

Hired Law Firm
I had a huge problem with honesty regarding my attorney, Larry Handley of Ankeny, Iowa of the Handley Law Firm. He made serious errors in court (cost me thousands of dollars) for which he promised several times to adjust my bill, but he later went back on his word and refused. I had to file a complaint and finally the Attorney Fee Arbitration Committee forced him to reimburse me a significant amount due to his errors and inappropriate charges.
Heather Handley-Cherry was very rude and unfriendly to me as a client of her firm. She did a terrible job of writing up the documents for my case and made several crucial errors which cost me a lot of money and had to be corrected in a subsequent hearing. Her firm did an extremely poor job in representation, communication, service, honesty and effort. They cost me much frustration, time and money.
Dishonest, incompetent, lied to me multiple times, essentially stole money from me by charging me for meeting and phone call that never occurred. He refused to provide records or proof of service. Would promise many times to do something a certain way for me, then did not do it.Cost me thousands of dollars by his errors in court. Lack of communication and effort, did not call back in a timely manner. Horrible man and lawyer.
I felt that Larry Handley was by far the worst lawyer I have ever worked with. He was very dishonest, he lacked effort, preparation, communication, competence and promptness. He promised to adjust my bill on several occasions, but he did not. He cost me thousands of dollars due to his errors in court. I had to file a complaint with the Attorney Disciplinary Board and the Attorney Fee Arbitration Committee. He caused me much distress, time and money by his incompetence and dishonesty.
He made many costly errors in my case which cost me thousands of dollars. He had extremely poor communication for keeping me updated on the case and very poor response time returning my calls. He failed to carry out my simple and reasonable instructions after assuring me he would do so. He lied to me about several important issues and went back on his word regarding making adjustments to my bill because of his many errors and negligence. He is incompetent and unethical as a lawyer. No integrity.

Martindale-Hubbell® Client Review Ratings™ display reviews submitted by individuals who have either hired or consulted the lawyers or law firms.
The Client Review Rating score is determined through the aggregation of validated responses. People who submit reviews are either individuals who consulted with the lawyer/law firm or who hired the lawyer/law firm and want to share their experience of that lawyer or law firm with other potential clients. Reviewers can be anyone who consults or hires a lawyer including in-house counsel, corporate executives, small business owners, and private individuals.
Martindale-Hubbell validates that a reviewer is a person with a valid email address. As part of the review process, respondents must affirm that they have had an initial consultation, are currently a client or have been a client of the lawyer or law firm identified, although Martindale-Hubbell cannot confirm the lawyer/client relationship as it is often confidential. The content of the responses is entirely from reviewers.
Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome and Martindale-Hubbell accepts no responsibility for the content or accuracy of any review. For more information on Martindale-Hubbell Client Review Ratings, please visit our Client Review Page
Martindale Peer Reviews
Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™ are the gold standard in attorney ratings, and have been for more than a century. These ratings indicate attorneys who are widely respected by their peers for their ethical standards and legal expertise in a specific area of practice.
The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.
